The Tomodachi Game manga by Mikoto Yamaguchi and Yuki Sato has officially concluded with Chapter 127! Celebrate over a decade of riveting storytelling, as the final volume arrives on Oct 8, 2024.
Tomodachi Game narrates the story of the main hero, Yuichi Katagiri, who participates in a high-stakes game with his closest friends; they are forced to doubt their trust in one another. The central idea of this plot is the full utilization of brains to clear up these games. One may say that the key to victory would not be to suspect your friends but to choose between “friends” and “money”—a story touching human emotion at its core.
The manga Tomodachi Game closed its final chapter in the September issue of “Bessatsu Shonen Magazine,” which went on sale on the 8th, thus finally closing the curtain on the 10.5-year serialization that started from the January 2014 issue. The final 26th volume of the comic will be on sale on October 8.
To commemorate the final volume, two special projects were included in the September issue of “Bessatsu Shonen Magazine.” The first project featured congratulatory comments from the main cast who starred as Yuichi Katagiri in the Tomodachi Game anime and the Tomodachi Game R4 drama.
Chiaki Kobayashi, the anime voice of Yuichi Katagiri said, “Congratulations to everyone for the finale! Yuichi was a character that called for a lot of different expressions, and I just remember sweating every single week during the voice recording sessions.”
Dive into the commemorative projects, featuring heartfelt messages from the voice actors who brought the characters to life, including Chiaki Kobayashi’s reflections on voicing Yuuichi Katagiri. Don’t miss this momentous finale!
The second project was a special interview of the original author Mikoto Yamaguchi and manga artist Yuki Sato.
The manga’s anime television series adaptation premiered on April 2022 on NTV. at JST. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan, and it also streamed an English dub.
It has inspired a previous live-action drama series and two live-action films. The first film, Tomodachi Game Gekijōban, opened in June 2017 after the live-action television drama series premiered in April 2017. The second film screened in Japan in September 2017. The series inspired a new live-action television show in July 2022.
