My Hero Academia: You’re Next will be the fourth film in the franchise—an anime superhero film announced in August 2023 and opened in Japanese theatres on Friday, August 2, 2024. Within the first three days of its release, the movie broke Japanese box office records. Indeed, it ranked first!
The story centers around a retiring All Might as he prepares to pass on his legacy to Izuku Midoriya and his peers at U.A. High School, set against the backdrop of an escalating war between heroes and villains.
According to the My Hero Academia: You’re Next official site, the story features a retiring All Might who is supposed to pass his will onto Izuku Midoriya and the U.A. High School students. In his second year, confusion befalls them in the form of war between heroes and villains. In such a case, Izuku, popularly known as Deku, is forced to face a strong enemy: Tomura Shigaraki.
Fortunately, the war closes out with Shigaraki retreating. Dark Might, however, appears right after to declare the intention to replace All Might. He claims to replace the retired hero but he has secret ambitions and runs an organization called the “Gorrini Family.” Deku, along with his friends, goes to fight the enemy to restore peace by defeating him.

My Hero Academia: You’re Next opened in 488 theatres in Japan and, at the same time, in IMAX, MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema. On Monday, August 5, 2024, it sold 608,500 tickets to gross about 895 million yen, equivalent to $6.28 million.
It was directed by Tensai Okamura at Studio Bones, while Yōsuke Kuroda did the script composition. Character design is by Yoshihiko Umakoshi, with the music done by Yuki Hayashi. The movie stars Daiki Yamashita as Deku, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Bakugo, and Yuki Kaji as Shōto Todoroki. In addition, there is Kenta Miyake, who plays the main antagonist, Dark Might.
