Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo is a favorite character across American comic fandom. This anthropomorphized rabbit, based on the historical figure Miyamoto Musashi, has blown the minds of comic readers. That being said, one of the character’s breakout appearances was in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles episodes “Usagi Yojimbo” and “Usagi Come Home.” In a twist on cosmic irony, Sakai’s beloved character will join forces just in time for Usagi Yojimbo’s 40th anniversary with another cultural icon. That icon, or rather icons, would be none other than the Power Rangers.

Written by veteran Power Rangers scribe Ryan Parrott, illustrated by Shawn Daley (Ogre), and colored by James Fenner (Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Shapeshifters), this crossover between the Ronin Rabbit and everyone’s favorite teenagers with attitude hits shelves September 2024. Additionally, when I saw Shawn Daley’s artwork, I knew this had the potential to be an insanely fun one-of-a-kind ride that hopefully both Ranger and Samurai fans will enjoy.
