China’s reservation to Japan’s act of discharging treated water from the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant into the ocean was one of the major problems. Liu also held talks with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa on Wednesday. Liu, who took office in 2022, has had a busy schedule, fuelling speculation that he is being groomed to be China’s next foreign minister.
Minister Kishida expressed his willingness to have favourable and improved relationships with China as he stated the significance of political party exchanges in building such kind of relationship.
